Two AWESOME days in the hills probably two of the most physically demanding days i have had in the hills, so we parked Steve (my car) in rothiemurchus forest cycled the bikes 8km through the forest until we were under the hills, hide the bikes, then walked 24km through larig gru valley which was amazing, we experienced every type of weather sun, snow hail, rain but it was awesome we then arrived into corrour bothy situated just under devils point, the avalanche risk was moderate this snow so we were ok, second day had snowed alot over night the snow conditions were ideal for avalanche so we sracpped our original plan and followed a not so steep gully up to the ridge, had breakfast on devils point, then onto cairn toul and so on my first ever munros in one day and we 4!!! awesome day with rich and gavin.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
