Description

Couple of hours with one person. Teaching Abseiling (gear retrieval) Set up an abseil and talked through IDEAS - same principles of belays. Got Malc to set up as much as possible and work through it in his own time pointing out safety points. I did a complete demo of getting onto the rope and using edge protectors to protect the rope. I then allowed Malc to have a go. Once he had a practice I moved to another location and let him have a go on his own. He completed a full abseil.
Next we went onto climbing a couple of routes and I offered feedback on his protection and belays. It was a short but worthwhile session.
