Description

Leading a team of 8 staff from Army Adventurous Training Wing Inverness for a week of sea kayaking from Summer Islas past the Old Man of Stoer and climbing it en-route. We set up the Tyrolian to avoid the 1st pitch using kayaks. Some folk just did the tyrolean, some just the first pitch and Chan, Martyn and myself summitted. Lots of learning and organisation with such a big team but a great experience for everyone.

Area : Northern Highlands North

The Northern Highlands North area includes everything north from the A835 Dingwall to Ullapool road, with the exception of the Ben Wyvis range, as described in the SMC guidebook of the same name. This area has a great diversity of trad climbing, from the sandstone of Ardmair and the very popular Reiff sea-cliffs, the gneiss of the brilliant Inbhirpollaidh Rock Gym and Sheigra, the mountain cliffs of Assynt and Foinaven, the sea-stacks of the Old Man of Stoer and Am Buachaille, to the sea-cliffs of the Caithness coast, and much, much more. It’s a long way to travel for most people, but well worth it.
