Description

2 day trip starting at Hoister Pass and ending in Langdale valley. Night nav round Grey Knotts and Brandreth, stayed near Dubbs Hut then walk over Windy Gap, nav and scrambing around Styhead and Sprinkling Tarn (good camp spots), scramble up gully onto Bow Fell and Esk Hause, down into head of Eskdale (good camp spot) then over Esk pike to Angle Tarn and descent into Langdale. Path down to Lansdale is very steep - not good for groups. The decent along the ridge from Angle Tarn would give a gentler and more natural route down. Great 2 days and good navigation training. Good weather.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
