Description

I planned this 5 day walk with my 'equals' partner using an OS 1:25,000 map.
Day 1 Haverthwaite to Ulverston 13km
Day 2 Ulverston to Coniston 27.5km
Day 3 Coniston to New Dungeon Gill 19.5km
Day 4 New Dungeon Gill to Keswick 29km
Day 5 Keswick to Caldbeck 29km
Day 6 Caldbeck to Carlisle 22km
The weather during the trail was a mix of sun, torrential rain and low cloud.
Although the route was planned in advance I checked the map each day to look at our route and also checked the weather to ensure we had the correct kit.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
