Description

My first meet with the Inverness MC as a prospective member. I was an early arrival to the Braedownie Hut in Glen Doll hence this walking being solo. It was a wet and misty day so I thought I'd follow Jock's Road up to Davy's Bourach. After a lunch break in the shelter it had cleared so I continued up onto the plateau and reached the summit of Tolmount. By now visibility was extremely poor, and the conditions were deteriorating fast. Instead of continuing on to Tom Buidhe I headed down, noting how much the streams crossing Jock's Road had risen and one in particular would soon have been impassable. It was a relief to be back in the hut and drying off.

Area : Braemar to Montrose (Lochnagar)

Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
