Description

First two hours at Trewavas was spent practicing set ups for RCI sessions in an area slightly more difficult to access.
Bottom rope set up worked well with alpine butterfly, and 4 pieces of kit. I used a double nut against each other to fit in a crack area - couldn’t remember the proper way to attach these so will reflect and research this. Top rope set up again was good and only required minimal alterations. Did alter so the the line was closed to 3rd piece and then brought down and equalised.
Following this practiced a hoist system before stripping the Oct and practicing a crevasse rescue with a 5:1 hoist system. This worked well but found that the stopping classic Prussia at the top sometimes stopped the rope pulling through. It did brake the rope coming back which was good. Overall happy with this.
Following arrival of climbing partner we moved down and decided to do some adventure climbing without a guidebook, good moves and fantastic gear placements. Set up at top was basic. Then decided to lead valance direct, did some brilliant climbing and found the crux moves a lot easier than previous which allowed me to build confidence when climbing. Happy days. Need to do more VS and climb fast
