
myself and rich purvis decided to have a couple days with a bit of bad weather nav, so left after work, walked to the bothy near an leitir, really cool bothy very basic just a shell, stayed there then the on the 10/5/2015 went up all the peaks, had LOADS of bad weather nav practice absolutely ideal practising conditions, you couldn't see very far and there was lots of nav features. probably one of the most "qualitiy" of my quality mountain days i have had since moving to grantown. once we arrived at A' chailleach we went to meall nan caorach 895m

Monadhliath Mountains (Carn Dearg)
Monadhliath Mountains means "grey mountains". Running in a northeast to southwest direction, the mountains lie on the western side of Strathspey, to the west of the Cairngorms and to the south east of Loch Ness. The mountains are within the Highland council area, and the south and east fringes are within the Cairngorms National Park. The high point of the range is Càrn Dearg, at 945 m/3100ft, located 24 km south of Inverness.
