Jason, who's had a 2 day intro to trad climbing course, climbs 6a+ sports routes, wants to learn how to be safe and become an independent trad climber. I lead the first 2 pitches and he seconded up. I suggested he would lead the last pitch, since I could see him from my belay point and the climbing is easy enough for him not to fall. Since I knew the route, I told him to look out for some gear placements on ground level to build his anchor and he found them. I took some pictures of gear placements that could have been better. And we talked about it after the climb. This was the first session of several until he's confident to go out on his own. I'm hoping we'll be able to do that in a few weeks.
