Description

With a group of mock clients we hiked up from the N.Face car park in very wet conditions and then towards the CIC hut. As the burn narrowed and we came below the start of Castle Ridge we crossed and headed up. On the approach we kept it fast and un-roped until the start of the gulley. Geared up and then continued solo scrambling until the wet conditions and terrain dictated I start short roping. Used a full range of techniques to ascend the ridge and pitched the crux sections. Once we summited Castle Ridge we moved around The Castle and up to the Carn Dearg 1214 summit. At this point switched to descent and headed down Ledge route. We avoided the wet slabs and descended via Moonlight Buttress and towards the CIC and down.

Relatively accessible from the A82, these mountains hold some classic walking and climbing routes such as The Ring of Steall in the Mamores and Point Five Gully on Ben Nevis.
