Description

Leading a group of 6 sports science students on their 'adventure day' from the RPC. We started from Walna Scar car park and then below the E face of The Old Man and towards Levers Water. All very fit students so good pace and made good time to summit of Swirl How. Decision point here and we decided to go for the longer route and headed down the Prison Band and up to Wetherlam. Cloud cleared for bit of a view and then back to Coniston and along lake to centre.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
