Planned over night walk to Lac Blanc. Used Ml training to plan using 5D’s. Took into consideration distance, altitude, types of terrain.
Started from las chosalets in argentierre we hiked up main path. Steady going up hill and caontonuef to chalet las Chesery. Nice and steady going all on path, similar journey to lakes below lac Blanc before the final ascent.
Camped at lakes below with the gendarmerie bivvying nearby.
Didn’t need to use majority of 5D’s and key areas of strength was group management and environment management whilst walking in the heat (regular breaks) altering pace etc. found interesting flora and compared with UK as well as finding the montane / alpine levels very interesting as they differ to Uk showing how much vegetation we have lost through over grazing etc.
Second day up early to do some navigation before heading back down via Aguirre du argentierre. Interesting to try and use pacing / timing and pretending we couldn’t see in clear skys. Difficult with so many different paths to actually practise !
