Description

Enjoyed a smashing day with a summer ml trainee who wanted to practise micro navigation. Starting from Honister Slate mine we headed up to the area below Grey Knott and Brandreth and then headed over to Seavy Knott where we practised navigating to tiny tarns on pathless, heathery/boggy terrain. We spent some time there before navigating to the summit of Haystacks and then returned via the 'tourist path' passing Blackbeck Tarn, Little Round How and via the dismantled railway path.

Area : North Western Fells

Essentially this area is encompassed by Lakes of Bassenthwaite, Derwent Water, Buttermere and Crummock Water with the southern boundary being the Honister Pass
