Description

Lead teaching day with Jake and Luke. Working alongside Holly Peri-Peri. They had prior indoor leading experience and outdoor sport as well as one or two trad climbs. We initially looked at gear placement and rating systems for the quality of the gear. After that we looked at at building anchors on the ground considering ABC and IDEALS. We then looked at coaching some techniques specific to capstone chimney before doing ghost leads with gear placement. After each Leeds we climbed on top rope and discussed the rating of the gear as well as offering our perspectives on the quality of the placements. During this we are able to look at the quality of their top rope belaying. It was a positive day with good progression but it felt like we could move the pace on somewhat faster.

Area : Peak District Grit: Stanage Edge

Simply the finest crag on grit with well over 1000 routes of all grades and styles. The most popular of climbing areas in the UK with a huge number of classic routes. We have split the area into the same divisions as used for UKC logbooks, namely Stanage Popular, Stanage Plantation and Stanage North. Bouldering activities should be entered into the 'Outdoor Bouldering' section of DLOG. Routes on other gritstone crags, such as Burbage North, should be added to the relevant Area as noted in the Area titles.
