Level 4 NICAS
Due to uneven numbers of particpants I was responsible for one learner for the session.
Lead fall practice, begining with top rope falls with increasing amounts of slack introduced the climber gained confidence and awareness of the length of the fall. It was also necessary to introduce the concept and practice of falling to minimise harm.
Introduction of lead falls above the 3rd-4th bolt, this was done in increments from normal slack>falling at the next clip.
By introducing the top rope fall first, the climber was more confident to take lead falls and then built up to a final fall on an overhanging route falling into space. Overall the climber felt good about the session and enjoyed the experience despite being apprehensive beforehand.
