Start: Doddick Farm holiday apartment NY 33523 26555
Distance: 27k
Duration: 8 hours
Direction: SW to Thelkeld village on lanes; then SE to Access Land to Hausewell Brow; 700m E to roughly end of rounded hill then SSW straight up Clough Head following easiest route of steep contours. SSW to Calfhow Pike, then following path SE to Great Dodd. Returning same way to Hausewell Brow, then Public Footpaths and lanes WSW to Dale Bottom, N to Castlerigg Stone circle then returning E via Threlkeld to Doddick.
Description: Some off path navigation over Access land with no distinguishing features; Great Dodd was not particularly inspiring and the walk made more difficult by losing the map somewhere on Great Dodd. I had a GPS backup. However, on retracing my steps, I found the map. I had not stored it securely so learning point is to look at improving this. I then looked at Castlerigg, a fascinating stone circle showing ancient life in the area.
