I did this walk primarily to monitor a Breeding Bird Survey square for the British Trust for Ornithology. I also wanted to climb Hill of Stake and Misty Law. I had been advised to do the survey early in the morning in good dry weather, and this was forecast, but the forecast was very wrong. It was a bit of a disaster and a really unpleasant, super-boggy tramp.
