Planned & led this walk. Mostly visible paths to Cruach Ardrain, using Harvey's 1:40. Then located the hint of a path off the NE corner down a spicy slope to attain the bealach below, and successfully located the path up Stob Garbh using contour features. This is where the path ended, so I used bearings to get us across the wild and broken top of Stob Garbh in dense fog. Further bearings to Stob Coire Buidhe, then down its western flank to re-join the forestry track. The last bit has difficult as the area had been clear-cut, with ground very rough underfoot; not something that could be ascertained in advance by looking at maps or satellite pics. I'll be more careful to leave extra time if future routes involve Forestry Commission land.
Area :
Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)
Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
