Description

Anchor building day with Roshan and Neha. During the walk-in we discussed goals for the day and how they would look to enact the skills acquired during the day. We covered off guide books and picking climbs initially before looking at approach consideration and gear needs. We then looked at gear placement and rating gear to achieve sufficient gear for an anchor. I then demonstrated and anchor build at the base of a climb, detailing both the steps to build an anchor and keep them safe as well as AN IDEAL. They both then had a go at building an anchor each on the ground and we reviewed each anchor highlighting learning points from each. We then proceeded to the top of the crag to put this in to practice with both of them building three anchors before we discussed and reviewed each of them. Each anchors had different challenges risks and space in which to rig and gave them a real world experience of what to expect including loose blocks.

Area : Peak District Grit: Stanage Edge

Simply the finest crag on grit with well over 1000 routes of all grades and styles. The most popular of climbing areas in the UK with a huge number of classic routes. We have split the area into the same divisions as used for UKC logbooks, namely Stanage Popular, Stanage Plantation and Stanage North. Bouldering activities should be entered into the 'Outdoor Bouldering' section of DLOG. Routes on other gritstone crags, such as Burbage North, should be added to the relevant Area as noted in the Area titles.
