Description

QMD
DISTANCE DAY!! :)
As part of exploring Via Alpina red route (self sufficient with 20kg pack)
13 hours, 40km, 1800m ascent, 1470m descent, wild camp
*No summits, but high and technical col as the final challenge of the day: Passo di Vermolera 2732m

Simple start to the day along roads, dirt tracks and valley wall trails until about two thirds of the distance in to the day where we rejoin some propper mountain trails up in to the higher valleys. once in to the final hanging valley we switch to light scrambling and some route choice before hitting some complex scree slopes up to the Col.

With one of the toughest scree slopes I've ever dealt with out of the way, a steep descent in to the next upper bowl brings the nights wildcamp by the lake and abandoned bivvy (Bivvy hut not suitable for humans).
