Helping to run an intro to lead session.
Participants had already done several sessions on top rope. This one was going to be the first time without it, but the lead routes are on the outside wall and given the rain it was decided the chance of slipping was too high for their first go. Instead they did more work with a top rope - the climbers focussing on choosing appropriate height to clip and the belayers on predicting the needs of the climber.
It was good to see adaptability to the situation rather than following a prescribed scheme. Climber/belayer technique, or not feeling ready in the head game, could also cause the need to change the speed of delivery.
