Description

Start: NN 12734 65541
Distance: 25k
Duration: 10.5 hours
Description: Started in deteriorating visibility and increasing wind. Bagged Stob Ban (Mamores) and reached bealack of Stob Choire A'mhail at 950m, following E then ENE direction vague tracks. At bealach wind pushed me backwards a bit - estimate maybe 30mph and poor visibility. The next step would be Devil's Ridge but I judged that risky so abandoned and took path from Lochan NNE down to Falls in Glen Nevis. Another walked half way up also said he had abandoned his plan for Devil's ridge as wind was too strong even on the way up. Then, long walk up through Glen Nevis; after touristy bit, path fizzles out but easy enough to naviagte through bogs to Meanach bothy. This involved a river crossing.

Area : Ben Nevis (Fort William To Loch Leven)

This area covers the mountains between Fort William, Loch Leven (to the south) and Loch Treig (to the east). The area includes Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg, The Mamores, The Aonachs and The Grey Corries. An impressive 20 Munros are split equally by Glen Nevis and the waters of Abhainn Rath. Relatively accessible from the A82, these mountains hold some classic walking and climbing routes such as The Ring of Steall in the Mamores and Point Five Gully on Ben Nevis. Includes all major peaks above 600m.
