Description

Start: Mosedale cottage bothy NY49475 09445
Distance: 12k 700m ascent
Duration: 6 hours
Description: Led friend walk and night at bothy. Starting from bothy W to top of pass then N steeply following fence handle to top of poke, then W to pass and descent N steeply on stony track to reservoir. Returning from gully NE over Rowantreethwaite, rising steeply then gradually then descending E into Swindale.

Area : Far Eastern Fells

Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
