* To introduce climbers to the rules governing a climbing session.
* To introduce climbers to the hazards of the climbing environment.
* To teach climbers the etiquette of climbing in a group and waiting their turn.
* To introduce a harness and helmet and how to use them.
* To descend from a climb correctly.
