Description

An epic day out with my partner and her dog. After introducing her to mountain walking last year and her realising how strenuous it can be, she wanted to try some hill walking to get fit enough to return to the mountains. So we took a trip up to Great Malvern and I lead a lovely dog walk from the North quarry car park, through the woodlands on the flanks of North hill eventually leading up the Green Valley and heading South to the Worcester Beacon. Once at the Beacon we back tracked to above the Green Valley and ascended North Hill to the summit before route finding an appropriate path back to the North quarry car park.
Even though I've been to Ivy Scar Rock, I haven't walked the hills themselves. So I had to use Explorer 190 Map and compass, taking regular bearings to successfully navigate the various paths to and from the summits of the day.

The weather was mostly sunny, however once on the summit of the Beacon we did encounter some strong winds and a few rain showers.
