Description

The Afric Kintail way from west to east. Bus to Morvich. Very wet and sodden ground due to recent storms. First night in Camban Bothy. The next two nights were spent in Strawberry Cottage with the Inverness MC. I led an ascent of An Socach via Coire na Cloiche. With gale force winds from the NW with early winter snow showers it was hoped this route would provide some shelter. This was the case until we attempted to descend from the north top to Bealach Coire Ghadidhael. The wind was being funelled through teh gap and it was impossible to stand. With increasing wind strength we retreated back round the southern side of the summit and back down to Allbeithe. The next day I continued on with a camp by Loch Beinn a'Mheadhoin, then on to Canninch for the bus home.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
