Began in argentierre to climb the aguillette du argentierre as we couldn’t get on a lift to ale Plain / Montet.
On hike up managed the group by stopping to talk about glaciation, moss and lichens as well as trees, this allowed all members of group to stay together as one was not as fit as others. At a point we could see the AdA but further up on the slabs could see a snow gully leading steeply up. We decided to go and climb it using the side wall for extra safety.
The route was predominantly unconsolidated wet snow, axes slipped through and had to pound down to make most of it stick. Did an avalanche test and where we were wasn’t bad, however further on the slope av debris could be seen and Ibexs’ above were dropping snow and ice on us.
At top used nav to get a bearing off as incoming storms could be seen, descended quickly down the snow, still aroun waist deep.
A brilliant day
