Description

Camped at Kings House. Lots of soft snow and winter conditions. Walked in from Glen Coe ski area car park, round the base of Creagh Dhubh then up valley. Corniced approach from col between Creise and MAB. Kicked steps up to MAB. Traversed back to col then on to Creise - tried to descend off gully down NE side of Stob na Creise but had decided to be lightweight and no crampons so not a safe option - returned by same route for decent to snowline below col. Night navigation to contour back round to front of Creagh Dhubh and then a late night in the Kings House where we crashed a fancy dress party. With Iain Baird - who had very little experience so real group management and decision making needed. Brilliant day out and unexpected treat to some early winter conditions.

Area : Glen Etive to Glen Lochy

This is the area south of Buachaille Etive Mor as far as the A85 (Tyndrum to Oban road). It includes the peaks around the Glencoe Ski Centre (Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh) alongside eleven other Munros and many other peaks above 600m. Highlights such as Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Ghabhar (1090) remind all-comers that this is an area of high mountains and low glens.
