Clifton College
New group
2 instructors, 12 students
Ran the warm up and quickly identified 3 boys who were misbehaving. After 2 warnings we split them up to maintain a safe session.
I took my group to a different area and after teaching them the safety rules, got them climb 5x VB-V0. Then explained climbing shoes, the shape and why we climb using our big toe ( precision, increased reach, more agile ). Then got them to climb 3x V1-2 problems.
We then looked at climbing with a low centre of gravity and straight arms to increase efficiency.
We finished off by climbing on a different wall VB-V2 and then did a cool down and stretch out.
Reflective comments:
This group were a little less enthusiastic about climbing than previous groups from this school. Maybe next time, have a little more learning through games, rather than a more adult style of session delivery.
