Clifton College
2 instructors, 11 students this week.
I ran the cardio element of the warm for the group, by getting the group to follow my actions as we lapped the bouldering area behind Clip n Climb. Sam then ran the mobility element of the warm up.
I like this set up as myself and Sam have different ways of doing the various elements of the warm up and by switching roles each week, we learn from each other.
We then split the group down in to a group of six and a group of five. I took the group of five and after recapping the safety rules. I got them to climb 4x VB - V0 problems. This group isn't the group I usually work with, but myself and Sam agreed that it would be best to swap groups so that they had experience of being coached by another coach. The boys however, didn't like this and started to misbehave. I tried focusing them by giving them the bells to strap to their feet and try to climb with silent feet. But this just led to them purposely ringing the bells. This group were definitely lacking in social maturity. We moved over to the slab wall, near the cave and looked at the slab set. Though this was also short lived as they kept disobeying instructions and trying to climb the cave. I reiterated the rules and explained that if they were unsafe, I would and will stop the session and they can spent the remaining time with their teacher. This seemed to temper their behaviour long enough to do some climbing.
