Working for PEAK adventures, park of the Keys schools group. I instructed 5 2 - 3 hour sessions a week for students from Broadwood school in Halifax. Each class at the school had one climbing session a week. The school is for children in Alternative Education meaning there were significant behavioural issues and many children were SEND. This required a very close level of supervision as many children have no concept of personal danger, or authority. Regardless of this the children found climbing to be therapeutic. They engaged well with it, built their own skills and learned to have positive integrations with myself and with other users of the wall. Their confidence, physical ability and self respect built significantly during this relatively short period.
