Description

Over the last few weeks after deciding I wanted to tick of the CWDI I have been observing the learn to lead NICAS 4 sessions at Parthian and helping where I am allowed. This has been an invaluable experience as I have been able to ask questions on SOPS, progression and structure with the instructors which has been great fun.
Things I've noted have been helmets at the start of the sessions as they have more chance of inverting, twisting their legs and hitting their heads. The instructor still bell rings on the bottom rope as a safety whilst their partner learns to lead belay. Teach that the best position for clipping is mid clip and not what I do which is getting into a position and reaching up. I find for me that I prefer this as can be less fiddly but it may be other reasons? Progression is based on confidence, questionning and a organic development which can be pulled back should something not be quite right.
A brilliant few wees of observing and look forward to doing more.
