Three week trek from Debeli Retič on the Slovenian Adriatic coast to the Vrisič pass amongst high mountains in the North West, following the Slovenska Planinska Pot. Initially mostly forested route over coastal hills, then over significant mountains including Nanos, Chaven, Porezen and the Southern Bohine ridge. Later ascended Krn (2244 m), surrounded by evidence of WW1 alpine conflict at great height in inhospitable terrain. Stayed in huts where possible. A highlight was the beautiful Dolina Triglavskih Jezer high pass. Some hot days which were a challenge in Karst terrain with little water, made use of snow for cooling! One wet day with poor visibility on Mali Golak. Several long days 24-30 km and height gains of up to 1.5 km. Hoped to climb Jalovec on the next section but assessed conditions unsafe due to thunderstorm risk. Great trip, looking forward to coming back to continue the route.
