Description

After 2 days train travel from Glasgow to Grenoble (13 hr) & then to Mont Dauphin (most of a day due to delays), M & I began our 12 day GR58 with variants.
Mont Dauphin itself was an impressive citadel. We took a poor route from Eygliers to the GR541 & lost time. Then up in heat through pine & larch to Col Moussiere 2354m, decorated with mountain avens. Down & up to Col St Anthoine 2458m, now flagging in heat & altitude. Finally, down & round to the lovely Refuge du Furfande. Globeflower, Vanilla Orchid
