Description

9.9km, 960m, 9.30am-3.45pm
A day with Matt Chapman tidying up the north top of Creise! Richard Cooper had started out with us but his legs were knackered from the previous day.
We took the ski lift up to save a bit of time as we had to be back down in time to drive south that night. Dug a snow pit with Matt to look at the profile, how to examine, shear tests and looking at crystals. I worked remarkably well for such a fresh snow pack. A lot of renascent was needed for this trip, but the views made it very worth while.

Area : Glen Etive to Glen Lochy

This is the area south of Buachaille Etive Mor as far as the A85 (Tyndrum to Oban road). It includes the peaks around the Glencoe Ski Centre (Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh) alongside eleven other Munros and many other peaks above 600m. Highlights such as Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Ghabhar (1090) remind all-comers that this is an area of high mountains and low glens.
