Description

A day of all seasons with Mick G, and anyway much better than the 30% shown on MWIS. From Kinlochleven to Coire an Lochan and Sgurr Eilde Beag then Binnien Mor. After rain & sleet early on, sun came out on last part of ascent, giving great views to Nevis, Glencoe and even Mull. Soft snow underfoot from about 550m. Then over both Na Gruagaichan with slightly slippery ground either side of intervening col. Then down & up to Stob Coire a Chairn, with weather turning as we approached summit. Rather nasty snow & wind chased us on the descent to the col and down the big zig of the stalkers path.

Area : Ben Nevis & Aonach Mor (Fort William To Loch Leven)

This area covers the mountains between Fort William, Loch Leven (to the south) and Loch Treig (to the east). The area includes Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg, The Mamores, The Aonachs and The Grey Corries. An impressive 20 Munros are split equally by Glen Nevis and the waters of Abhainn Rath. Relatively accessible from the A82, these mountains hold some classic walking and climbing routes such as The Ring of Steall in the Mamores and Point Five Gully on Ben Nevis. Includes all major peaks above 600m.
