Description

Set off from previous camp and ascended Kirk Fell via Black Sail buttress, then descended via the southern face back down to wasdale Valley, then via Lingmell Gill ascended Scafell via Lords Rake. This gully was still full of snow, snow climbed with care and wore climbing helmets. again because of poor vis, we walked un compass bearing for most of time. (Note to self, Don't use a 1:40000 map for the Scafell massiff)

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
