Description

Day 3 of Winter Skills and Mountaineering Course with the Austrian Alpine Club based out of Killin.
A very mixed day with weather. Started snowing reasonably heavy with poor visibility, by the time we reached the summit the weather broke ad we had lovely views. By the time we hit the last peak the weather had closed in again with strong winds and snow. Guided day around the Meall nan Tarmachan round, drip feeding in winter decision making. Didn`t end up getting the rope out all day, steady group and some spotting was ample. Started with a group of 4 and ended up with 7 after joining up 2 groups. 2 other groups on the hill that all joined together for the trudge back along the track to the car park.

Area : Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay (Ben Lawers)

This area covers the peaks to the north and east of Crianlarich. Glen Lyon forms the northern boundary while the road from Crianlarich to Aberfeldy is the southern boundary. The Ben Lawers group in the east of this area includes seven separate peaks, all Munros, which are part of an impressive 12km ridge line. The western side of this area is generally lower and not as steep but does still home some a number of Munros. All major peaks above 600m are included in the mountains list. The area to the north is Loch Rannoch to Glen Lyon.
