Description

Multi-day snow holing trip with 2 clients, one of whom had to cancel at the last minute. We spend an evening at a bothy in Glenfeshie, before heading up onto the Moine Mor and journeying across the plateau to locate a suitable snow hole site near Tom Dubh. We had planned to try and summit a couple of the Munros in the area, but the weather, which was excellent to begin with, deteriorated on Friday giving whiteout conditions, and we opted to make our way directly back to the car

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
