Currently I am working with Wrexham Youth Service as a Duke of Edinburgh Award co-ordinator (Part-time post). I am an accredited Trainer and Assessor to Gold level. I have been working with Wrexham since 2006.
I been working in the Outdoors Industry generally since 2005 as a self-employed freelancer. I have worked with various companies including World Challenge, Outlook Expeditions, Wilderness Expertise/Amphibia, Pro-Active Adventure, Gr8 Adventures, Class Adventure, No Limits, H5. I have led groups abroad and in the UK, from Dartmoor to the Lakes but mostly in North and Mid Wales. Activities including; Expedition Training, Team Building, Climbing, Biking, Gorge Walking. Also, of course, training, supervising and assessing DofE groups.

I gave up full-time teaching (Art and DT) in 2002; needing a change. I sometimes regret that decision from a financial point of view; but it is difficult to put a price on the experience of working in the outdoors. Looking back, some magic moments:-
the laughter and fun of teamwork with a group of young people,
introducing older people to climbing, watching them grow in confidence,
dancing in the desert, on the edge of the Sahara,
chasing bears out of the camp in Transylvania,
baking hot days floating down river in a canoe,
jumping into waterfalls from a great height,
the anxiety of mis-locating a group in bad weather and the joy (and relief) of finding them
laying down under the stars on a wild camp,
supervising jacob's ladder (high ropes) as the sun sets and darkness descends,
watching young people overcome their fears, coping with difficulties, growing up seemingly overnight.
Too many to list really! But I feel privileged to have worked - and still work - with so many brilliant young participants and inspired colleagues.
