I started hill walking and climbing at a young age back in the 1970s. Every other weekend was spent in the Mourne Mountains and large chunks of the summer too. University saw more of a switch to canoeing, but when I moved to England and discovered the Welsh Mountains I was hooked again. I have been working with Cadets on and off, a Level 2 BCU coach and also teaching for the past 30 years. I have combined these outdoor activities and helping with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, in a variety of schools. Although recently retired from teaching I am still involved with the Air Cadets. In both capacities I am involved with the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award and I am accredited to assess expeditions to Gold level. I live with my family in Kent on the South East fringes of London. I also visit the Mourne Mountains when ever I can.

I have been working with Cadets on and off, as a Level 2 coach with the BCU and also teaching for the past 30 years. I have combined these outdoor activities, and helping with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme in a variety of schools. Although still teaching I have recently become involved with the Cadets again. I live with my family in Kent on the South East fringes of London. I have worked with challenging young teenagers in the south of London and have had the privilege of helping to set up and introduce these young adults to the outdoors through their involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh's award. Next Project is taking groups of Gold Expedition training and assessment to the Brecon Beacons. My own projects include improving my climbing and obtaining the Indoor climbing award. My next personal target is to get up to Scotland more often and enjoy the landscape, both high and low!
