My love and passion for the outdoors began when I was a child as a very active and enthusiastic Brownie, Girl Guide, Venture Scout and then a Leader. I spent many a happy childhood year camping, walking and partaking in all manner of outdoor activities with friends and family.
As an adult I have enjoyed exploring the UK in greater depth and despite many opportunities to travel abroad, I do feel privileged and secretly proud to have spent all of my holiday time getting to know lots of the hidden corners of the UK. My favourite areas to walk in (for differing reasons) are the Black Mountain- for the solitude, The Isle of Arran - for the compactness, beauty and variety of walks available in a small area, Northumberland - for the wildness and wild remote landscape, and more recently Snowdonia, as that is where I trained and passed my Summer ML in 2017.
Passing my ML was a very proud moment and I worked hard at increasing my confidence and fighting personal demons along the way. I spent as much time as possible meeting new people, getting advice, support and picking up useful information from other trainees and qualified ML's. The MTA were integral for my continuing development with some excellent courses available.
Now I've achieved my own personal goal I am very keen to support and encourage others to follow their own dreams. I have bags of enthusiasm, positivity and drive to motivate people on an outdoor journey of their own. I feel very passionate about supporting and encouraging all socially and disadvantaged groups to access the countryside.
My 'home turf' is the Peak District where I grew up, and where I now walk regularly when I'm not venturing further afield.
