Saturday Half Day - 13.00pm - 17.00pm Workshop: Strength and Conditioning A 3 hour practical gym workshop introducing current concepts for physical conditioning that promote whole body fitness for walking, injury prevention and long term engagement in mountain activity. The workshop may be tailored to the group’s knowledge and experience of the subject. Subject matter will be physiology and biomechanics, fundamental warm up routines, bodyweight and barbell movement exercises, planning training programmes.” Workshop Leader: Giles Trussell Giles is a Senior Instructor at Glenmore Lodge. He holds the MIC and British Canoeing Level 5 Coach Award in White Water and Sea Kayak. He has been engaged in Strength and Conditioning (S&C) programmes for the last 3 years and is a keen advocate of blending S&C into his outdoor activities. He currently delivers the BMC Physical Training 1 and Scottish Canoe Association Foundation Strength Training and Conditioning courses. Recent S&C workshops have been delivered at our Winter Climbing Conference and Scottish Orienteering Coach Conference. A keen Mountain Marathon and hill runner as well as climber, paddler and skier he has engaged with Strength and Conditioning programmes to enhance his performance in these areas.
