The new Rock Climbing Instructor Training Course will include 8 hours at an indoor wall. This full day workshop aims to explore indoor climbing topics appropriate to the delivery of this part of the course.
It is aimed at Mountain Training England Rock Climbing Instructor Providers and Course Staff and is an opportunity for attendees to increase their knowledge of the indoor teaching environment. The emphasis of the day will be on collaborative discussion between the attendees to pool collective knowledge and experience.
Note that attendance is not 'accredited' by Mountain Training - this is an AMI CPD workshop (worth 1 CPD point).
It will be held at Kendal Climbing Wall on 22 May 2018 between 10am and 5.00pm.

Proposed workshop programme will include:
• Intro to the Rock Climbing Instructor syllabus and guidance
• Personal Indoor lead climbing competence
• Clipping practices
• Prolem avoidance - back clipping, z clipping & leg entrapment
• Lead belaying (static and dynamic)
• Holding small falls - why, how and where
• How to descend safely from outdoor sport climbs
• Bottom roping sport climbs – protecting the bolts/anchors from wear
• Risk assessment and group management
• Planning a climbing wall session and appropriate progressions
• Intros, warm ups, bouldering games, traversing and effective spotting
• Climbing holds and how they are used
• Movement coaching roped and un-roped
