This event is an opportunity for those new to working with MTS to meet the ‘old hands’ and share ideas, thoughts and experiences related to working the Mountain Training awards to:

  • Co-ordination – Mountain Training network Update.
  • Development – Climbing Awards review – new schemes;
  • Consistency – moderations; review of defer/fail results 2017
  • Pathways – ClimbScotland and Mountain Training Scotland Trainee Climbing Instructor Programme; MTS Bursary scheme.
  • Ensure continued, equitable and inclusive access to Mountain Training qualification schemes in Scotland – Bangor Uni PhD; reasonable adjustments: case studies
  • New developments coming up: MTS Bursary Scheme; MTS Safeguarding policy and procedures; Mountain Training Leadership and Decision Making; MTS Safeguarding  policy and procedures; Relaunch of Hill and Mountain Skills by MTS;  Mountain Training PhD outcomes; Mountain Training Walking Awards Review; Mountain Training Scotland Winter ML review.

1100Hrs           Presentation and discussion: Wildlife Crime an Introduction for Walkers, Climbers and Bikers. The objective is to help those accessing the outdoors to recognise wildlife crime and know how to report it. Mike Flaherty Special Constable attached to the Wildlife Crimes Initiative sponsored by Cairngorm National Park and PC Doug Darling, Wildlife Crimes Officer for 'A' Division. 

1200Hrs           MTS Community of Practice:

  • Update on reflective practice – what it is; number undertaken; way forward.
  • Course Director pathways and proposed new additional requirements for approval
  • MTS Seminar, workshop and training courses programme 2018
