Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
This two day Lowland Leader Assessment is a non-residential course, it will include 1 VC session in the weeks leading up to the practical.
Canidiates will be sent a home study paper for completion prior to the practical, this will form part of the overall assessment.
Each day will start at 09.00 hrs and finish by 17.00hrs
Pre-course VC meetings will start at 19.45 hrs, they are likely to be on Wednesday evening.
The pre-course brief will include details of the programme, expectations, home study paper review, DLOGG and Q&A session.

Pre-course reading recommended is the Lowland Leader candidates Handbook and Skills Checklist both can be found on the Mountain Training website.
Candidates will need to have registered with Mountain Training for the Lowland Leader, completed a training course, and have a 16hr first aid qualification. How too, details can be found on the Mountain Training Website.
A course pre-requisite in addition to the above is to have a minimum of 20 quality logged days in the appropriate environment. A DLOG review will be part of the initial assessment process and feedback provided.
