Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
Bryn Williams is one of the leading providers of the RCI scheme in the UK having been involved in the delivery of the qualification for over 15 years and was also the former Executive Officer for Mountain Training with responcibilites in creating the syllabus and quality assuring the scheme around Wales.
The Rock Climbing Instructor training course is a fantastic 3 days (24 hours), one of which is spent at a climbing wall and the others out and about on the crags. The days are run from 9-5pm on each day.
To attend the course you'll need to be registered for the Rock Climbing Instructor scheme with Mountain Training (and be a member of the BMC) and have the following climbing experience before attending the training course:
Course cost includes entry to climbing wall.
