This FUNdamentals Workshop is aimed at intermediate climbers (3+ months experience), instructors, and coaches who are keen to develop physical climbing attributes in a sustainable, safe and goal specific manners.
This workshop provides an introduction to physical training for climbing, in a practical and applicable manner that will enable you to develop an appropriate training plan.
Content:
- Physical demands of various climbing disciplines
- Physiology involved with climbing (Muscles & Energy systems)
- Types of training for the range of attributes under Strength and Endurance including strength, power, hypertrophy, power endurance, capacity and recovery
- How to train these area using a variety of different equipment on the wall, off the wall and in the gym.
- How to support and sustain effort put into physical training to make the desired physical changes.
The workshop will be delivered in a relaxed way with plenty of chances to discuss a variety of approaches to the delivery of common climbing movements that participants can adapt to their own environment. Together we will explore and discuss how to develop climbers' movement and technique in a variety of environments which will include games-based learning and coaching drills and setups.
You'll have plenty of opportunity to take part in games and more formal coaching scenarios which will help to deepen your understanding, and, in turn make climbing and coaching easier.
You will need climbing shoes, something to take notes with and may need a harness & belay device if at a roped centre.
This course is resourced and you will receive supporting documentation to help you to deploy your new knowledge after the course.
