Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

We strive to deliver fun, friendly, and relaxed assessments to create a positive environment for you to shine. We love delivering these assessments with enthuisiastic climbers and as well as assessing, aim to develop and coach you further through the process.

Our courses are delivered from our private Basecamp space, right on the high street in Llanberis, Eryri | Snowdonia and include free tea & coffee. It's a nice quiet space for going through aspects like the homepaper in the dry with a decent coffee. We'll head to some of the great climbing crags within striking distance and usually the Beacon Climbing Wall which is a fantastic facility for the indoor element. 

In addition to our experience of delivering the Rock Climbing Instructor scheme, we are active and current Climbing Instructors ourselves. We’re passionate climbers and the only thing we love more than teaching climbing, is developing motivated instructors. In addition to hopefully seeing you pass your award, we're all about preparing Rock Climbing Instructors for working in the outdoors with top tips and career advice.

Our Basecamp provides a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we run morning meetings and evening lectures; equipped with facilities for weather briefings, presentations and resources. Llanberis itself is a great base, with plenty of accomodation options, and good transport links. 

With tea and coffee included in the package; finishing the course with a slice of cake is just the icing on the, well....
