Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
This is a split long weekend course. All Mountain Leader training courses are 6 days long whichever provider you use.
We commence at 10 am on the Fridays and finish at 4.30 pm on the Sundays
Friday/Saturday/Sunday 25/27th April 2025
and after a weekend off in the middle of the course
Friday/Saturday/Sunday 9/11th May 2025
We run the course on a non residential basis so candidates can commute from home if local or arrange a varety of accommodation to suit their individual needs.
Candidates need to have an absolute minimum of 20 Quality Mountain Days logged, in order to book onto the course. Please see the Mountain Training definition of a quality mountain day.
